phpBB 3.0.6-RC4 released

Postby EXreaction » Sun Nov 01, 2009 6:33 pm

Another release candidate of 3.0.6 has been released! I was somewhat surprised by this, but a number of late bugs were found in the last release candidate and The phpBB Group has decided to release another package for more testing.

In an effort to increase product stability we are happy to announce the availability of the fourth release candidate for the next release - phpBB 3.0.6.

This fourth release candidate contains mostly regression fixes. Everyone able to should test this release and report critical bugs (those, stopping the operation of the forum) and issues to the bug tracker or directly to the developers.

Changes since RC3

  • Fixed ticket #52875 working around php4 bug - call_user_func doesn't return references. This causes php4 to create a copy.
  • Fixed cache issues in feed generation.
  • Include default language in data to send for statistical purposes.
  • Revert "Parse multiline url title for [url] BBCode tag" because it introduced different bugs.
  • Fix sql_create_table (table creation) in db tools for mssql and sqlite.
  • Fixed Ticket #53175 (forum_options cleared if editing forum) - regression from revision 10024.
  • Fixed Ticket #53185 (icon width/height adjustement for icons > 127px also applied to smilies) - related to revision 10088.
  • Adjusted email template admin_welcome_activated to be more descriptive (and in-line with the changes to the other email template files).
  • Fixed Ticket #53245 - Notices in log searching feature.
  • Fixed Ticket #53285 introduced in revision 10018 - Mark the first visible forum on index as unread if there's any unread global announcement.
  • Implemented better way to generate SID-free links in feed.php
  • Fixed Jabber SASL PLAIN authentication failures. (Bug #52995)
  • Fixed severe bugs with Oracle and UPDATE statements.
  • Fixed issues with database updater and Oracle/SQLite/Firebird.

You can find more information and download the packages here.

Unified MOD Install Library (UMIL) 1.0.1 Released

Postby EXreaction » Fri Oct 30, 2009 9:53 pm

The Modifications Team is proud to announce the availability of the 1.0.1 "Spooky Edition" of UMIL, the Unified MOD Install Library.

UMIL is a library for MOD authors that enables them to easily create database installation and update scripts for their MODs. It provides unified methods to access phpBB's API for adding modules, adding permissions, modifying the database, and more.

We require MODs containing UMIL that are submitted to the MODDB to contain this new version. In order to update the UMIL release included with your MOD just replace the old UMIL folder with the new one, no other changes are required.

How to get it

You can get UMIL and more information from the UMIL page.

What's new

The following was changed in this release.
  • [Fix] Ignore missing @import files for themes. #48415
  • [Fix] Error when uninstalling with table_row_ actions (was re-running the function). #48515
  • [Fix] In some cases call_user_func_array errors when the second parameter is not an array. Setting up a new function to handle the multicall. #48825
  • [Fix] Sending false for the second variable for the module_exists and module_remove function isn't possible (it should be for a feature it has). #51475, #51495
  • [Fix] module_exists should accept a module_id to check for, as it is needed in some circumstances when adding or removing modules. #51485
  • [Change] No longer using the sql_create_table function in db_tools if present, it still has bugs. May reconsider if phpBB starts using it.
  • [Change] Cleaned up the table_row_ functions
  • [Change] Setup get_output_text() to remove some duplicated code (also removed the result() function and replaced the calls with this)
  • [Feature] Ability to specify before|after when adding a module (with the module_langname of the module you would like to have it placed before|after) #48425
