In my spare time, I've been attempting to create a Myspace Clone style for the wonderful Blog MOD. Aside from the usual kinks of converting a style from one platform to another, I've run into a lot of crap thanks to the remarkably horrid code of Myspace -- whoever they hired for a designer should be shot. Messy tables, messy Javascript, messy CSS, messy everything -- it is just a straight out nightmare trying to work this shit, especially considering I'm modifying it so that it's geared to display blogs and not display a pretentious about me section. This should be way, way easier than it is, but alas it isnt. Luckily though at this point there are still improvements I've been able to make without ruining user CSS support -- first off, since I'm compressing all these useless CSS files into one, removing just about all of the Javascript, and removing a bunch of IE6 conditional statements, pages should load faster, even though the markup is still, unavoidably, utter crap. Secondly, I'm putting User CSS in the head tag, so no ugly flash of butt ugly content will be present, thankfully. I also made a Virb-esque make-your-own style, however that is geared specifically for a site I've been doing up and thus wont be released, looks cool though. |
