This looks like a different sort of categories than I'm used to? Is it possible for the users to make more categories?

No, regular users can not make their own categories.
Of course administrators can add/edit/remove categories in the ACP.
I've changed the look a bit for viewing blogs if you view them by clicking a link when you are in the category, I think having it like this is the best way to do it (especially when I later fork the mod and create other systems from it).
And, if you want, you can completely ignore categories. If you don't add any it will act just like it used to.

OK, I'm sure we get used to this, even if it is different
But - is it possible to have categories box om users blog page too? If I'm reading a persons blog, I might want to se what this users have posted ex. in category "Perennials 2008"
