You'll need to manually install if for those styles it looks like. You'll need to go in and try finding the places it is looking for and then add the code in where you want it.

Some of those styles may be based off of subsilver2 instead of prosilver, so you might want to check out the subsilver2 instructions for it instead of prosilver

You could try, but I would recommend you do it manually just to make sure

Re: [Split] Advertisement Management Support

Hi,

thank you for writing such a great tool as Advertisement Manager for handling ads on forums (I also use it for announcements, even better use for it there, because nobody seems to read ordinary announcements any more). It really makes a change for the better in everyday administration! :D

I have noticed that my Chrome browser doesn't count any or very few clicks for ads made by Advertiement Manager, when click counter is enabled. In FF it counts almost every click.

I haven't looked into other browsers yet, but assume that there is problems with caching or something like that in other browsers too, because I used it together with phpBB's thread show counter and notice significant differences. The thread was viewed over 1000 times and only 162 clicks accured. Other similar thread are nomally viewed much less than 1000 times, so it is quite obvious that people have used the ad to go to the thread.

This is not really a big issue, it just limits the use of Advertisement Manager a bit, but I wanted to ask if there might be some solution for this problem.

A way to automatically empty all users local browser caches would be great for so much other things too.

If there isn't, it might be an improvement of the MOD to delete the count click function.

Cherrypie!

For Chrome, try testing it again in an incognito window, I believe it might be caching the page that is requested so that it only counts the first click the user makes and not all of the clicks on the same ad in the future.

View counts on topics are not unique individual counts either, one large reason for higher views is greater posting activity in the topic, so if the clicks lead to more people watching and replying to the topic, even if only 162 people follow the link, that could easily lead to more than 1,000 views.

It may be from search crawlers as well, they have javascript disabled and will follow the link, so it wont get counted, but if they are not in the bot database (there are a number that are not listed as bots because they are relatively new) their views will be counted as topic views.

It's rather difficult to say exactly the cause without doing major testing in many different browsers.

Hello Could you recommend someone within the phpbb circle that might be willing to do that for a reasonable price?

I'm installing this mod, and when I run database.php it installs everything successfully with the exception of this error:

Adding acp module: acp/info/acp_ads.php
Fail

Code: Select all
Advertisement Management
PHP Version: 5.3.13
DBMS: MySQL 5.5.24-55-log
phpBB3 Version: 3.0.10

Adding acp module: acp/info/acp_ads.php
Fail

I've trawled through this thread and I can't find the answer, am I just being dense?

Thanks in advance

Ach, fixed it. I'd copied the acp/info files wrong from the root in the first step when I installed it. Apologies! I've been through and got it right this time. Duh. Thanks anyway!

Hey Folks,

I've just installed this mod and so far so good, but a couple of things I'd love a bit of help with please.

I've tested ads on 'below the footer' and 'above the footer' but I'm not seeing them at all. However, they are being counted in ad views.

The other thing is the user's ad control panel doesn't seem to be showing up. I've created a test account on the forums and have assigned a test ad to the test account, but I don't see any control panel links.

Can you help please?

I used automod to install the mod and there was an error at first as I installed to phpBB3 3.0.11 it said to check that the mod was compatible as your new version wasn't verified yet.

Everything else seems to work ok.

Thanks very much.
